There is plenty online to help you do that if you want to.Exactly, it's the EFI that limits the OS version. You can upgrade the processors in them and the graphics card to unofficially run Mavericks. Potentially you could use bootcamp and install windows on a partition or separate disk. It is perfectly suitable for normal internet usage, just be aware that apple will probably not be releasing many (if any) more security updates for it. It should run pretty well on Snow Leopard, I'd stay away from Lion. I still use a G5 as a computer at home, I want to get one of these to replace it! Snow Leopard (10.6) was the last version that had Rosetta, letting you run PPC applications. They have 4 internal drive bays so it could be useful as a file server, perhaps RAID it. I think it has something to do with having a 32-Bit EFI. Mac Pro 1,1 and 2,1 won't run anything above lion (10.7).
