Vista (and 360 era) or newer is the standard one. If it's from the XP era it's probably DInput. Don't use it much these days, but I grew up with a PS2 in the house so it really hits the spot It's like having a PlayStation controller but with Xbox buttons, which is perfect for PC.Īlso it has a XInput/DirectInput switch on the back which allows to swap between new and old controller standards easily, which is useful for older games (like GTA:SA for PC) but anything semi recent will use XInput. You'd probably have 0 issues with a genuine Microsoft adapter, 3rd party ones are probably funky.Īlternatives include: xbone controller via micro USB, newer xbone controller via Bluetooth and I personally own the Logitech F310 (/510 for rumble/710 for wireless rumble) and I love it. Note the Microsoft, and own parts of that. Any game will use and refer to any button layout as an Xbox 360 controller. Xbox 360 controllers are THE PC controllers to get. It's Microsoft, they support their own shit.
